Design Time

I have several projects in the works right now and a few still in the pre-planning stage.

Today I took a break from working on my stuff for a while. A friend (who is a HUGE Superman fan) had asked if I could come up with a quilt block that included the shape of Superman’s logo.

I’m sure it’s been done a hundred times over, but I played around in EQ and came up with a paper pieces block. Just for fun I threw it in a quilt layout with sashing and a border.

I should go back in and add the symbol to it. I sent him this picture and he is very happy with it, and has been asking about materials cost… so this one might end up being made into an actual quilt.

I am still learning all of the features of EQ8, it’s turning out to be a lot more fun and functional than I thought it would be, which is always a nice surprise.

After I finished playing on the laptop I sat down and played around with some fabric crumbs.

This crumb block is pieced on a 3 1/2″ foundation paper. I just might make a few more of these when I get the time. I’ll have to run over to my in laws and trade out some of my boring scraps for the new ones we sorted last weekend. (Not that my fabric is actually boring, but I need some variety!)

That might happen this afternoon. So far the weekend is looking great. My older sister and her family are coming over Saturday and have offered to cook us a prime rib dinner, looking forward to that! Sunday I have plans to work on a few of my mother in laws in-progress projects, it sounds like there will be quite a few to choose from, so I’m very excited about that!

It’s easier to get excited about someone else’s projects than my own sometimes, and this is one of those times!

Until next time,

The Quilt Police
