Today I got to spend some time at the sewing machine working on string blocks! I am continuing to make the green/neutral half square triangle blocks.
So far I have 28 blocks made. I need 90 total. Yikes!
Trimming up the blocks! I made them 6.5″ square so that my Easy Square Jr ruler works great for trimming.
The pile of finished blocks is growing!
After making all of these blocks today do you think I made a dent in the string piles at all? Nope. Not even a little. But thats OK because I need a LOT more of these little guys to make a quilt!
I’ve been kicking around a few design ideas but I think I finally got it finalized.
I love the idea of a neutral string border. No name yet but it will happen eventually. When this quilt is finished, or at the very least, when the quilt top is finished, it will be a free pattern here on the blog.
Other things happening around here today are the annual work Christmas party. I’ve got Cowboy Beans in the crock pot for my dish-to-pass, and next I’ll throw some canned goods (jams and such) into a box for the guys to pick their gift. (I say the guys because I am the only female in the office aside from our clerk). This is the third year Ive brought in my home canned goods as gifts and this year the guys hinted they want something spicy. Cranberry-Jalepeño jam, anyone?
Until next time,
